Hoffer Plastics Earns ISO 14001:2015 Certification, Validating Leadership in Sustainability
Certification reinforces company’s environmental stewardship in manufacturing since 1953.

SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (March 10, 2026) – Hoffer Plastics (‘Hoffer’ or ‘the Company’), a leading provider of custom injection molding solutions, announced today that the Company achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, formalizing its Environmental Management System (EMS) framework and reinforcing disciplined performance across its manufacturing operations.
Hoffer has prioritized sustainability as a core business imperative since its inception, embedding environmental stewardship into every facet of its operations. Initiatives range from a facility-wide recycling program that diverts more than 350,000 pounds of material from landfills annually to broader efforts that reduce carbon emissions, conserve water and advance circularity in materials use. This longstanding commitment has also been recognized through industry awards including IndustryWeek’s Best Plant Award and the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award. These honors reflect Hoffer’s dedication to both delivering operational excellence and supporting its customers’ sustainability goals.
With ISO 14001:2015 certification in place, Hoffer has embedded environmental accountability into its operating systems, formalizing carbon tracking and recycling oversight within a certified framework. The integration strengthens executive-level review, improves documentation rigor and enhances the company’s ability to provide customers with consistent, auditable sustainability data.
“At Hoffer, we tie environmental performance directly to operational excellence and quality,” said Jim Stoffel, Vice President of Quality Excellence. “ISO 14001:2015 embeds environmental accountability into the same disciplined systems we use for quality and continuous improvement. By standardizing practices like carbon measurement and recycling documentation, sustainability shifts from a goal to a measurable performance indicator that gives customers confidence in our ability to mitigate environmental risk, ensure compliance, reduce waste and drive continuous improvement.”
Through the ISO 14001:2015 audit process, the Company refined its environmental efforts around two focus areas with the greatest operational influence: carbon emissions and recycling and scrap management. Emissions are calculated annually and evaluated quarterly to identify reduction opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Recycling metrics emphasize material recovery and landfill reduction, reinforcing accountability in areas that directly affect operational efficiency.
“When I joined Hoffer, the company was already a leader in sustainable manufacturing processes. ISO 14001:2015 gave greater clarity and consistency to practices that have long been part of our operations,” said Hannah Mooberry, Environmental and Sustainability Specialist. “It gives us a defined structure to measure performance, track progress and intentionally improve our sustainability efforts year after year. That clarity allows us to focus on what truly drives impact for the company, our customers and the community, and address gaps before they become problems.”
As part of its ISO 14001:2015 certification process, Hoffer accelerated enhancements in material segregation and waste handling practices. Clearer material standards and strengthened contamination controls have improved recycling reliability, increased landfill diversion and created cleaner material streams for reuse. Hoffer partners closely with customers to responsibly expand regrind usage where applications allow, validating material inputs and processing parameters to ensure product integrity and process stability.
“That level of operational rigor reflects the depth of expertise across our team,” added Stoffel. “With the leadership from our QMS and Regulatory Manager, Derri Emerson, and Hannah’s focus on environmental performance, we worked cross-functionally to embed ISO 14001:2015 into our core operating framework. This was a true team effort.”
